Bangkok: Shopping Haven (Part 2) Things we bought

My weekend gateway shopping in Bangkok was awesome. I managed to get a pair of new shoes, some fancy earrings, necklaces, 3-4 T-shirts, simple souvenirs and some snacks.

I did not do any massive shopping in this trip because this is my third time in Bangkok.
Anyway, here's the stuff that me and my mom bought just to share with you.

Saw these Ongmali Frog earrings and it's has a tinge of feng shui element.
Something I could not resist.
Bought these to pakai for next CNY.

Of owls and butterflies.
You can see that I love butterflies and owls a lot leh...

Super awesome T-Shirt that is oh! so true. Mom got it for her best friend.

Mom also bought a nice red bag for her BFF

Some nice looking handkerchiefs looking oh! so sweet. My fav one is the black cupcake. Bought 2 of the same because I'm gonna keep one and one for a girlfriend in Penang because I think she is as sweet as the cupcakes. Hope you love the one I selected for you, Racheal.
We have been exchanging souvenirs in our last few trips.

Mom's stash:  Wonderfully crafted handmade soaps. How clever!

My fav is the cute looking mangosteen. Too sayang to use leh.

The coconut soap is also nicely crafted with details.

And I my very first dreamcatchers. I have been wanting my very own dreamcatchers for the longest time. Now I have not one but three!

It's all about elephants in Thailand.

Naraya is one the the best places to shop for bags. It originates from Thailand. Their signature products are items like bags and wallets of all sizes made from cloth. It is so much cheaper to buy Naraya in Thailand than in Isetan, Malaysia. One can save up to RM20 to RM30 per bag (BIG BAGS)!
Yup. I did a cost comparison.

In my last trip I bought 9 huge bags! So this trip, I'm just gonna minimize.
So here's what I bought which I find it very useful. A coin pouch that comes with a tissue pocket.
Masa nak keluar lunch or jalan-jalan just bring this sudah memadai.
One pouch fits all.

A supergirl must get a Superman T-shirt. I've always wanted a blue one. So here's one to add to my collection and it was on Sale!

Also bought a raincoat-like windbreaker for 200 Baht at Platinum Mall

Saw these comfy shoes and it seems like everyone is wearing one these days.
Hence, another buy for me. I love walking in flats. I'm not a heels person.
This pair costs me about 550 Baht after discount.

Snacks Gallore!
I will usually invade stores like 7 Eleven in other countries to find snacks that I cannot find here. Just bough some minimal snacks to try.  Lotte Panda in Green Tea, Tom Yum Flavoured Pretz and Blueberry flavoured Pocky.

Being a coffee lover, I end up buying their famous Moccona Coffee (all flavours) and I always go back for more whenever I'm in Bangkok. Trying out the Nescafe Caramel for the first time. And love the pack on the far right (in grey packaging)  that consist of 5 flavours in a pack which comprised of these flavours : Mocha, Espresso, Condensed milk Flavour, Cappucino and Super Rich.

Mom also bought a few of these beautiful bloom hairbands. Aren't they a pretty sight! Feeling sooooooo feminine with these.

Hope you have an idea on what to buy in Bangkok in your next trip!
Happy Shopping!

Bangkok: Shopping Haven (Part 1)

I recently just got back from Bangkok. It was rather peaceful there. According to the taxi drivers, they have lifted the curfews. I even stalked the streets of the Patpong Night Market  way past midnight.  No coup in Bangkok. No sight of soldiers. Everything was back to normal.

http://edition.cnn.com/2014/06/04/travel/thailand-tourist-update-june/

I was so worried initially and I thought I had to cancel my trip to Bangkok.
Thank goodness we went ahead as planned.

When coming out from the airport, go straight to the public cab area which charges only 500 Baht vs the nicely dressed guys in suits after you keluar from airport selepas mendarat which charges at 700 Baht! Some more can tell me it costs more because it takes an hour to my hotel, traffic jam....blah blah..blah...
I took the public cab (just walk outside) and within less than 35 min's I'm at my hotel already.

I stayed at  Four Points Hotel in Bangkok

Here's a view from the outside.

Generally it was a convenient location at Sukhumvit Soi 15 and located in between ASOK and NANA BTS Station. A walk to the new TERMINAL 21 shopping mall was a breeze, less than 10 mins' walk. I am going to cover one blogpost on Terminal 21 alone later. So right now, a simple introduction to the hotel where I stay.

We were greeted with a warm and friendly smile by their helpful staff from the hotel.
Everytime our taxi arrives at the hotel's doorstep (after every shopping trip), tentu ada staff dari hotel yang help us with the luggage or buka pintu for us from the cab. They even double check if we have any left behind belongings inside the cab! What customer service!

The lobby looks spacious and contemporary.

Love the artistic feel and space!

Green lungs. Lush greenery outside the hotel.

The makan place. Tapi I tak makan disini cause Bangkok terlalu banyak street food.
Cari makanan di tempat lain.

The check in counters.

To see other's point of view, read the review of others on Trip Advisor here

I know you may be eager to view the rooms.

Here's a quick look at my room and bathroom. Splendid I must say!

 Yay! There's a bathtub.

In every hotel, I will usually check out their pool area. This is how awesome their pool area is. The pool is not very big, but the sun bathing and chilling area is pretty cool. I was too busy shopping. Did not go in for a dip. However saw some mat salleh sun bathing on the couches.

Sunny Days are here to stay

 Nice place to chill

It was mom's first experience in Bangkok and my third.
The weather was kind to us. No rain. Just hot. It was bearable with the constant mall hopping with air conditioner.

Everywhere you turn, you will see street stalls and shopping malls, encouraging you to shop and spend. Stalls setting up selling clothes.

Shopping haven for clothes. But I must say, the best place to buy clothes  is still at Platinum Mall  in Pratunam where it's wholesale price if you get more than 2-3 pieces and prices are relatively cheaper. Tak payah bargain there. Prices of clothes are so affordable.

About RM20 - RM35 a piece. A T-shirt can range from RM10- RM25. An XXL size T-shirt will usually cost more. So size does matter!

Walkway full of people selling and buying. Full of activities.

There are many cable wires hanging just about everywhere because they do not have underground areas to hold them. Initially I thought they were kind of messy.
But it's very normal there.

What I love about Bangkok most is the town planning. I love all the connecting elevated walkways above ground level which connects malls and BTS without having pedestrians run across the busy streets. Plus it's shaded. Super convenient.

Cabs are aplenty on the streets. Just hail them.
All malls and hotels have at least 2-3 people attending to customers and assisting them for cab rides. Sometimes taking a cab is more justifiable than the BTS.

A simple ride within Pratunam and back to my hotel at Sukhumvit Soi 15 is about 150-200 Baht. It's very reasonable to travel in cabs around Bangkok. If 3 orang take BTS back is also about the price of a cab. Cabs to/from airport is about 500 Baht.

So much more to share. Stay tuned for part 2.

My Sweet Escape To Singapore (Part 3) : Marina Bay Sands

I have always loved Marina Bay Sands. To me it's a magical place with great bargains and a sight to behold! A combination of retail therapy aka shopping, fine dining restaurants and great scenic view.
A random snap shot of the Marina Bay Sands
It's a shopping paradise with big names like La Senza, Zara, Chanel, Fossil, Royal Selangor...etc
Not everything is expensive here. You can get great bargains at times.
Love the rainbow dress on the doll.
An interesting window display with shoes that looks like a chandelier.

You can even do a row row row a boat within the mall

Doesn't this make you feel like you're in Venice?
Spotted this family of three spending quality bonding time and enjoying themselves.

On the outside, I felt like macam City of Glass

Surrounded by tall buildings all made of glass. At night, the scene is filled with lights. I can just sit there all day  admiring the view if it's not too hot.
One of the entrances to the Marina Bay Sands
And me jumping for joy! Boing! Boing!
The majestic Louis Vuitton. Check out the architecture that is so unique.

Marina Bay Sands houses a casino and a hotel and is one of the must visit places in Singapore. I just love the clear blue skies, surrounded by water, water everywhere.

And this post, I dedicate to Shopgirl Diary who has not been to Singapore yet.
Look at all the wonderful scenery. I am beginning to fall in love with SG.
SG has so much to offer.
